BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Central Asia is a region in Asia that includes five states: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Kazakhstan is the world's largest land locked country. A majority of the people in these countries are of Turkish origin save for Tajikistan.

Central Asia has the third largest oil and gas reserve in the world because of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan exports of oil and gas. The development of the New Silk Road program is of utmost importance for the economies of central Asian companies as being landlocked and previous Soviet block countries, their economies were very limited until recently. The New Silk Road has seen millions of investments in central Asian countries.

ECONOMICS OF MODERNITY In the modern era Kazakhstan the largest central Asian country has also developed the largest economy in the region. Due to it's wealth of mineral mines and natural gas and oil deposits.
